Who says a castle has to be grey?

Because grey castles are so 2003.

I kid, I kid. But this little red number by Lukasz W (LL) really caught my attention. It’s simple, but avoids some typical castle-trappings like boring walls and such. I like the vibrant color, and the white makes everything “pop” just a little bit more.

Catch! calls the Once-ler.

He let something fall. It’s a Truffula seed. The last one of all! You’re in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds. And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs. Plant a new Truffula. Treat it with care. Give it clean water. And feed it fresh air. Grow a forest. Protect it from axes that hack. Then the Lorax and all of his friends may come back.

A Tower to Protect

Jaka Kupina’s (Captain Flint) Guard Tower is packed with fun little details. The whole thing manages to look overgrown, un-cared for, and generally miserable while still having such a clean, lovely presentation. I particularly like the fence line, myself.

The world has changed, Sensei

There tends to be some comfort in a glimmer of color, a bit of hope in a dark place. Seb Arts has illustrated that beautifully in his recent creation:

Deck the hall with boughs of LEGO

The weather outside might be frightful, but we’ve got plenty to keep us inside and warm. And that includes building ornaments for our trees, if that’s the holiday you choose to celebrate.

LEGO Liberty Inn, London

I’m finding it difficult to pick my favorite shot for this blog, because the Liberty Inn by ZCerberus is just lovely. Every angle has something visually captivating. I picked one to put here, but I whole-heartedly recommend perusing the flickr gallery.

Countryside Keep for the Mini-Castle Contest

Each year, Classic-Castle runs a number of contests. Right now we’re in the middle of the Mini-Castle Contest, a sort of precursor to the massive Colossal Castle Contest. You’ve still got until October 31 to enter!

In the meantime, I invite you to check out some of the competition. Ru Corder has posted this lovely micro-scale landscape/castle mix-up. I’m in love with the timber fence-line.

An oasis for the weary

What brings a traveler this far, you might ask? What a fabulous question. Wealth? Power? Prestige? In the long run it doesn’t matter, but a respite is always appreciated.

Though, knowing Sebastiaan Arts, I’m fairly sure there’s something hidden. A portal to another dimension, perhaps?

Recycling has a long, noble history…

…or something like that. Perhaps not necessarily noble, but the idea of re-purposing something certainly isn’t new.

Matthew Hurt‘s done an excellent job of illustrating just how enterprising some folks can be. His crumbling tower has become a hideout for two unsavory characters.

Ridin’ the Big Thunder

I admit to being a sucker for Disney; I was 23 when I made my first trip. There’s a certain joy in seeing Mainstreet USA for the first time.

So with that in mind, this creation by Fat Tony brings me to that point, of being at Disney for the first time, and the sheer joy of riding the rides and seeing that magic.
