Marvel has revealed the first pictures of some of the upcoming Lego Avengers sets. The sets and minifigs look good except for Iron Man, who must have been modeled after a bobblehead version

I really like this picture by Joe and Will Merzlak (The Brothers Merz). And I almost forgot to blog it.

Cole Blaq has busted out his custom Friends figure to use in this amazing rendition of the Alakuneda Think Tank from Ghost in the Shell. He’s used grey rather than the more accurate tan to make better use of curved parts but I think it’s a fair compromise to make for something that looks this good.

Matt De Lanoy built the Opee Sea Killer and Bongo Submarine 5 years ago but it’s not until now that he posted edited photos to do the model justice. You can see more pictures on Matt’s Flickr page.

There tends to be some comfort in a glimmer of color, a bit of hope in a dark place. Seb Arts has illustrated that beautifully in his recent creation:

If one can say that a weapon reflects the personality of its wielder, then I need not say a word about this hardsuit by Cam M. For those who prefer more agile combat tactics, you may prefer the version with the dual-blades.

Schneider Cheung celebrates the Year of the Dragon with the most wonderfully sculpted Chinese dragon I’ve ever seen.

Meanwhile, rack911 celebrates with a depiction of Cai Shen, the God of Wealth, complete with a golden dragon and a bowl for treasure.

Rod Gillies built this great TV to showcase his new LEGO Superman minifig. The TV cabinet is lovely, and the background includes excellent details like little puffy clouds and microscale, forced-perspective buildings.

But it gets even better. The background behind Superman scrolls!

What can I say to add to the experience of viewing this amazingly bizarre creation by halfbeak? It does make interesting use of some parts (like car doors on the arms), but that’s certainly not what caught my eye. This is an engaging character, and that’s why I like it.

I alluded to the opposing force that inspired my own microscale battle fleet, but it looks like I didn’t end up blogging Mike Yoder‘s fleet on its own. Well, this wonderful new poster created for Mike by Stijn gives me a great excuse to do so.

All of Mike’s ships have a consistent design that visually places them within the same faction, while each vessel has a unique style of its own. I just love the little fighters!
