Minifig customizer The-Bricker combines chopped-up bits of BrickArms, judicious use of paint, and a lot of glue for a really great commando fig.
Custom minifigs frequently don’t stand up to closer examination (and often look best in person), but don’t miss the photo’s large size for all the details.
Realising I’ve never owned a uke, I decided I’d try to make one. But instead of using wood, like any normal person, I decided to use LEGO bricks. Of course, there were some challenges: 1) Shape, 2) Strength, 3) Tuning, 4) Intonation
So, after all that, I ended up with what I like to call an alto ukulele – it is tuned to C-F-A-D (normal ukes are generally tuned to G-C-E-A). I also thought it needed a stand so I can display it on the mantle piece, you can see it poking out the bottom. And I think it really sounds OK, but you can judge for yourself: Puff the Magic Dragon

Following his amazing GLaDOS from Portal 2, Brandon Bannerman (Catsy) miniaturizes a turret to minifig-scale (or near enough), alongside an adorable custom Chell fig, complete with ASHPD.
For all of you out there who’d like your own turret to keep you company during the long twilight of civilization, Brandon has kindly posted instructions.
Another interesting thing about Brandon’s design has been watching it evolve based on feedback from fellow builders. See the earlier iterations here and here, together with the comments that inspired the final version.
This image by Fred (Shamisenfred) reminds me of those collectible fantasy cards that were big in the 90s. Although Anutrich himself is very nice I have to confess that the scales he’s holding are what really drew my attention to it.
Julian Fong (levork) has made a set of nine DC Comics superheroes for Creations for Charity. Each features custom-designed waterslide decals and an acrylic finish. They’re one-of-a-kind minifigs whose quality is among the best I’ve seen. You can check out more of Julian’s works on Flickr.

These dwarves aren’t going to take it lying down anymore. The vile, nefarious dragon is no match for their high-tech weaponry. This time things will be different. This time they will not fail.

I usually steer clear of multi-coloured brick-because-it’s-in-fashion art and design but I have to confess this particular boardroom table caught my eye. Not only is it genuinely made entirely of real LEGO (22k pieces of it no less) but there is no glue involved and a bunch of cute details including the client’s name.
As an added bonus the designers have included a 2-minute stop motion video of its creation down the bottom of the page.
Captain Spaulding built a scene from French writer Jules Verne’s science fiction novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. What makes this vignette a hit is the use of a framed ocean backdrop to to put the scene in context. The custom seaweed looks to be made from cut up sprue pieces. The effect is nice if you can overcome this non-purist technique.
Do not adjust your monitor. This is 100% LEGO. Shiny LEGO! bricksonwheels is showing off his homemade chrome collection and building skills to brilliant effect.
I admit…I don’t look at a lot of custom minifigures. But there are, on occasion, those that give me pause. This is one of them:
Created by geoshift, the detail work is impressive and the paint itself is very clean. It’s stunning. Of course, looking at the rest of the photostream, I realize I’ve clearly been missing out. Take a look. You won’t regret it.
