A title by Brian Kescenovitz (mondayn00dle) that’s simply too cool not to use. Matches the scene perfectly. Beyond the silly appeal, it’s a well constructed and posed mech. Full of nice part usage like the scout trooper helmets as hips and minifig arms to add some curves to the feet.
For the record, I’m a cat lover and owner and nobody will be able to convince me this isn’t funny. The cat is nimble, I’m sure it can take it.
This creation by Shamisenfred isn’t a duck or a penguin or anything else that’d make sense in the context of an underwater bird mecha. It’s an ostrich wearing a hardsuit.
Since I don’t own any of the new ostriches yet, I’m not sure whether the heads simply detach, or if tools are involved. In order to suit my purist heart, I’ll assume that the head was easily removed and affixed onto this body. There’s just something about the ostrich wearing goggles and a snorkel that really amuses me.
Brian Kescenovitz (mondayn00dle) is another builder who probably has more works featured on our blog than not. What makes this creation unique is the combination of an emotionally arousing scene and backstory (yes, a Lego creation can be more than eye-candy). The rust stains on the rare Bionicle mask of the hardsuit mirrors the stains of blood and adds to the twisted setting. The hardsuit also seats a complete minifig.
Kyle Slushey’s Studly Aquanaut looks like it’s been freshly revived from a pile of rusty junk at the bottom of the waters. The color combination and use of seaweed plays an important role in conveying the personality of this mecha. Check out more of Kyle’s recent designs in his 7 Days of Mecha Madness project.
Kyle Vrieze (bermudafreze) displayed this deadly beauty of a SHIP at Brickworld. Unlike other ships, it carries combat cargo. Watch out ground forces, the last thing you might see is its shadow above your head.
Sam W. (-infomaniac-) presents an innovative design for a mecha that uses asymmetry to great effect. At the same time, the Power Miners wheels and the coordinated sand green color blocking unifies the distinct elements of this creation. The large cannon is a very necessary feature.
We’ve all seen some pretty good stop-motion animations with Lego, but the method is not without its limitations. Tyler Clites and Jordan Schwartz recently experimented with making short clips of live action Lego films featuring their Oasis Mech and Anubis Statues respectively. Just so you know, we don’t feature action figures on the blog. What you’re looking at is another brilliant Lego creation by Brian Kescenovitz (mondayn00dle). The wings are made from Technic links, which seem to have more uses than being stuck to the bottom of a tank.
It’s been so long since we featured a mecha by Tattun, but I’m glad to see new stuff are still sprouting in his Brickshelf gallery. This gatling-gun quadruped has just enough color accents to spice up the color palette, not to mention the weapons to do the damage. I also really like the sketch effect render of the mech.
