If you enjoyed Martin Latta’s ARC-170 starfighter, you can now build your own thanks to the instructions posted by the builder. It’s rare that a builder takes the time to make instructions for models and shares them with the public. Even if you don’t plan on reconstructing the model, it can still be rewarding to peruse the building techniques used on a great model.
Matt De Lanoy built the Opee Sea Killer and Bongo Submarine 5 years ago but it’s not until now that he posted edited photos to do the model justice. You can see more pictures on Matt’s Flickr page.
Mos Eisley used Star Wars minifigures to create this Christmas version of the Emperor’s arrival. Can you identify all the minifigs used, including the chrome stormtroopers?
Marshal Banana spent the past 9 months building this truly faithful recreation of the Sandcrawler in Lego. This massive minifig-scale model retains a high-level of details despite its size. The builder goes beyond to add remote-controlled steering and other functions such as a motorized crane and conveyor belt. A fully detailed interior completes this perfect build.

Clearly, C3PO would drive this landspeeder by Luka (kost u grlu). It makes great use of the limited palette of gold parts available. What really kicks this creation up, though, is the interspersing of detail and mechanical bits throughout, much like C3P0′s exposed midsection. The use of the Build a Buzz’s helmet visor as a windscreen is just icing on the cake.
Eric Druon (baronsat) brings us an exceedingly cute Mos Eisley LEGO diorama. It’s not realistic and it’s not meant to be. It’s cute. And playable. Eric has been drip feeding this for a while and I’m super happy to see it all together.
But I’m sure he’ll be content with Jay Hoff‘s Star Wars diorama made from 30,000 bricks and 388 minifigures. The walls of the hangar are so convincingly realistic that I thought they were cardboard cutouts at first. The shuttle looks like LEGO’s UCS set, which really puts into perspective how large the setup is.
FBTB’s 2011 Podracer Challenge drew about 50 entries for podracers that feature a non-Star Wars theme. You can see all the podracers in detail in the first voting phase of the contest.
I can’t say anything more clever than The Living Brick did about this podracer that Tommy Williamson built for the 2011 FBTB Podracer Challenge, so I’ll just quote OJ: “It looks almost good enough to eat! So in that respect it’s very similar to the real thing.” Indeed…
