SPARKART! used around 2200 carefully selected and arranged LEGO pieces to create this model of the MS-06R High Mobility Type Zaku II from the anime/manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, a gritty, violent, and dramatic sci-fi space war story. The model is about 1 foot wide, 1.5 feet high, and 1.5 feet long (30cm X 45cm x 45cm).
This giant mecha from kenny_yan looks like it could transform at any moment. The wheels in the shoes and the turbines on the shoulders make me think… jetcar. Not much to say about this man-powered suit, except that it looks big, lean, mean, and uses a scattering of stickers to great effect. And holy cow, photography class: study this snap to become a master.
Benny has one awesome mech to go with his spaceship thanks to Martin Gee. His heavy lifting mech has just the right amount of chunkiness and detail bits to give the illusion of function for my taste.
The classic space logo plate over the cockpit (which can comfortably seat Benny), matching shapes on the shoulder and thigh plates, and smaller precision arms are my favorite details here.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I have for you today, in this single story, not one, not two, but three mech builds from three different builders. Together, the make quite the lovely trio!
First up is a spindly looking fellow in the form of Rv-12 Voron by legoricola. Something about the angle of those ankle joints makes me really uncomfortable…
Next up it’s the police mech 02 by neruneruneranai which ditches the bipedal form factor of the previous build as well as (spoiler) the next. Instead we have this Tachikoma-esque wheeled design which is very nicely done.
Finally, Lancer Railgun by DeadCajun71, which uses one of my favourite pieces to create a very unique shape for the cockpit area. Also: the way this mech picks up its pilot reminds me a lot of Titanfall 2, a game I’m very excited for.

Carter Baldwin ([Carter]) once again proves his prowess with mecha chock full of wonderful detailing. As ever I am endlessly impressed by what builders can do with olive green considering it is such a new colour. Carter also made perfect use of the Citizen Brick diamond plate custom printed tiles.
Many mecha builders avoid using large rectangular surfaces on their creations, but Aaron (m_o_n_k_e_y) purposely approached this style, drawing on inspiration from a concept art. The interesting and asymmetrical colors and the right balance of greebles are also essential characteristics of this build.

What can I say to add to the experience of viewing this amazingly bizarre creation by halfbeak? It does make interesting use of some parts (like car doors on the arms), but that’s certainly not what caught my eye. This is an engaging character, and that’s why I like it.
Or possibly just war machines in camouflage. The hardsuit in this crack team of desert warriors is a true beauty. And much more to scale with minifigs than most I’ve seen. Thanks Chris (Ironsniper) for this compact delight.
Until today I was unfamiliar with the LEGO mecha made by G P (gdido2k10), but I hope to remedy this soon by checking out his back catalogue. His GN-008 Seravee Gundam is a highly impressive creation and great rendition of the original.
